Biography: Paul is a Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Based out of the firm’s Raleigh-Durham office, he has 7+ years of management consulting experience, leading consulting projects for pharmaceutical manufacturers; Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs); retail pharmacies; and Long Term Care (LTC) pharmacies. This is complemented by more than two years at Haven (the Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, JPMorgan Chase joint healthcare venture), where his time was focused on developing and operationalizing strategies to innovate the pharmacy and PBM model to reduce drug spend for self-funded employers.

As a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, Paul earned a M.Sc. in Global Health Science with Distinction and a M.Sc. in Neuroscience. He completed his undergraduate education at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2011 on a Morehead-Cain Scholarship, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration with Highest Distinction and a B.A. in Psychology with Highest Honors. Paul most recently served two terms on the Honors Carolina Board, from 2015-2021. His efforts on the Board were focused on: developing a novel career coaching program to provide Honors students with concrete guidance from experienced professionals in specific fields (including being closely involved in the hiring of two coaches), developing and participating in a series of Young Alumni panels / engagement opportunities for Honors Carolina students, and expanding the Honors Carolina curriculum.

During his years at UNC, Paul volunteered his time actively across multiple organizations, serving as: Senior Advisor to the Student Body President, Coordinator of the C-START Undergraduate Teaching Program, and Member of the UNC Honor Court.

Paul is married to another UNC graduate, Kaitlyn Barnes Shorkey. They have one son, Trace, and live in Durham, NC.
