Welcome to the UNC Center for the Business of Health’s CBOH Career Networks program—a constellation of resources meant to educate and create community around the continuously evolving healthcare ecosystem. As the healthcare industry continues to grow and diversify, we offer students, educators and industry professionals a platform through which they can learn, explore and connect with the many facets and individuals in the greater healthcare ecosystem.
The program and industry verticals are supported by three core components that work together to provide a holistic understanding of the business of health, plus opportunities for students and individuals who wish to better understand diverse opportunities available to them in the field of healthcare. These three components may be used independently or, for a broader understanding, in combination to create a learning and community building experience.
Offers the opportunity to create community and explore the verticals through interactive panels and fireside chats meant to engage students, professionals and community members in the learning process and discourse relating to current healthcare business topics.
Encourages individuals to further explore the seven verticals to better understand current trends, news, industry leaders and roles in the broader healthcare ecosystem. Readers have the opportunity to share articles and news of interest.
Promotes connection for the sake of information gathering and relationship building. Though not a mentorship opportunity, this process allows individuals to connect directly with professionals healthcare related occupations to ask their career, industry, educational, or company questions.

Healthcare Consulting
Healthcare consultants advise pharmaceutical companies, biotech start-ups, health insurance companies, and governments on the most effective and efficient ways of delivering healthcare.
Digital health refers to the use of information and communications technologies in medicine and other health professions to manage illnesses and health risks and to promote wellness. Healthcare technology refers to the use of technologies developed for the purpose of improving any and all aspects of the healthcare system. Health innovation is to develop new or improved health policies, systems, products and technologies, and services and delivery methods that improve health, with a special focus on the needs of vulnerable populations.

Healthcare Investment Banking refers to a group that solely focuses on healthcare companies and has sufficient capabilities to advise clients on strategic transactions such as Mergers & Acquisitions, and divestitures, and capital services including debt, equity, etc.
A pharmaceutical company, or drug company, is a commercial business licensed to research, develop, market and/or distribute drugs, most commonly in the context of healthcare.

A healthcare provider is a person or company that provides a healthcare service to you. A healthcare delivery system is an organization of people, institutions, and resources to deliver health care services to meet the health needs of a target population.
