Katherine Engstrom is an organizational leader with deep and broad experience across functions and healthcare verticals. Her passion is building high-performance, motivated teams driving a singular mission that they deliver together.
Most recently, Katherine led functions and then business units for Grifols, a biopharmaceutical leader of plasma-derived medicines. She began by establishing an innovative marketing team to expand markets and opportunities for plasma collection across the U.S. Katherine then became President of BPC Plasma, Inc., a Grifols-managed business of 1,600 people in plasma collection centers across the U.S. Subsequently, Katherine was tasked with building a new strategic business unit in untapped markets as President, Grifols Plasma Atlantic.
Prior to Grifols, Katherine led sales, operational execution, and strategic relationships with top tier global customers for Haemonetics Corporation, the industry leader in plasma collection devices. Katherine joined Haemonetics to head their Global Plasma finance department, before transitioning to the commercial side.
Katherine’s healthcare career began in finance with Johnson & Johnson where she held roles across FP&A, Business Development and M&A, Operations and Marketing Finance within the Diagnostic and Consumer organizations. She was a participant in and then mentor for the MBA Leadership Development Program.
Katherine holds an MBA in Finance from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, an MA in Anglo-Irish Literature from University College Dublin, and a BA in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a (leisurely!) marathon runner and currently resides in Boston. Go Heels! Go Sox!
