Susannah Butters

Engagement Manager, McKinsey

Susannah Butters is an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company in Charlotte, North Carolina. She works in McKinsey’s Social, Healthcare and Public Entities (SHaPE) practice, primarily serving public sector healthcare clients at the federal and state level on projects related to health equity, crisis preparedness and response, and behavioral health. At McKinsey, Susannah also leads the Charlotte Office’s Women’s Network and supports Kenan-Flagler MBA recruiting efforts.


Prior to joining McKinsey and Company, Susannah worked at the University of Chicago in clinical research. There she managed research studies focused on evaluating the efficacy of utilizing community health workers to improve the health of children with asthma, reengineering discharge process for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and incorporating technology into inpatient education. She also worked in Copenhagen, Denmark to manage a science and health international education program.


Susannah received an MBA, as a Dean’s Fellow and Forte Fellow, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, and an MSPH from the Gillings School of Global Public Health. She received B.A. in Anthropology from the Haverford College. Susannah lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her partner, Rob and golden retriever, Luke.
